Angela Shellis, 45, was found dead in the Morfa area of Prestatyn, Denbighshire, on Friday

The family of a 45-year-old woman who was found dead have described her as “loved daughter, sister, mum and aunty”.

Angela Shellis was found in the Morfa area of Prestatyn, Denbighshire, near Dawson Drive, where police officers were called at about 08:40 BST on Friday.

An 18-year-old man arrested on suspicion of murder remains in custody, North Wales Police said.

The force urged the public not to speculate about the incident online and appealed for witnesses who were on football fields in the area between 03:00 and 08:30 to come forward with any information that could help the investigation.

Officers were called to the Morfa area of Prestatyn, Denbighshire, near Dawson Drive, at about 08:40 BST on Friday

“Angela was a loved daughter, sister, mum and aunty and will be sadly missed,” Ms Shellis’ family said in a statement.

North Wales Police’s Det Ch Insp Andy Gibson said: “The family are being supported by specialist trained officers and ask their privacy is respected during this tragic time.

“Whether you believe you have anything of significance to offer the investigation, it is imperative that we identify any persons in the area during these key times.”

He added: “A warrant of further detention was granted at Mold Magistrates Court on Saturday 25 October to allow us to keep the male in custody, whilst the investigation continues.”
